West Ham draw 2-2 with Liverpool in the 35th round of the Premier League. Czech international Vladimír Coufal had an active performance, Tomas Souček also played a great game. The Hammers take a valuable point in the fight for the TOP 7.

Liverpool started actively, Harvey Elliot had the first interesting chance, but he hit only the side net of the Hammers goal. On the other side, Lucas Paqueta fired in the 13th minute, but Alisson dealt with his compatriot’s attempt quite easily.

Then Cody Gakpo tried his luck from an angle, but missed the space between the three posts. And Trent Alexander Arnold was not successful either. From a direct kick, unlike a week ago at Fulham, he only missed.

After half an hour of play, Vladimir Coufal came close to scoring his first shot in a West Ham jersey, but his attempt was eventually caught by Alisson. In the 40th minute, Gakpo failed again and a minute later Luis Diaz hit the near post.

And three minutes later he was unfortunate as Jarrod Bowen managed to strike with a header. So it was a surprising 1:0 lead for West Ham going into the cabins. But quickly after the change of sides Liverpool managed to equalise, although they missed their first chance.

Ryan Gravenberch’s shot was still inaccurate, but left back Andrew Robertson made no mistake from the edge of the box. Liverpool sensed a chance and pressed, another shot from distance failed, Alexis Mac Allister’s attempt was cleared by Alphonse Areola.

In the 65th minute the visitors were already celebrating, the ball following the Angelo Ogbonna, Tomas Soucek, Areola route into the net. Then the goalkeepers showed up on both sides, first Areola against Diaz, then Alisson pulled back an Emerson volley.

The Hammers still managed to equalise in the 77th minute thanks to a header from Michail Antonio. Liverpool didn’t go in front again thanks to Coufal, whose slip prevented Darwin Nunez from shooting. Then in the 89th minute Elliot hit the bar.

After the draw, West Ham reduced the deficit to one point on seventh-placed Newcastle, but the Magpies have two games in hand. Liverpool seem to be out of the title race for good.
