Real Madrid managed to turn the semi-final game around and advance past Bayern Munich (again) thanks to late goals. Although Joselu scored both goals for the Madrid side, the man of the match award went to Brazilian Vinícius, who kept Kimmich and de Ligt awake throughout the match.

The Brazilian’s performance

Already during the first half, after a confusing situation with the ball at the penalty line, he hit the bar of Neuer’s goal. Then, from the rebound, Rodrygo failed to beat the great German veteran in goal. But the goalkeeper, lying down with his arm outstretched, prevented a certain goal.

After one of the corners, Vinicius got to the ball on the edge of the large area, sent a shot into the penalty area and again Neuer had to intervene. Two players in white ran past the ball in front of the German goalkeeper and the situation was not easy for him.

The Brazilian immediately showed the Bayern defence who was the master on the pitch at the start of the 2nd half. Several times he easily got past Kimmich or de Ligt, who were unable to deal with him in the second half. However, in the last phase Vinicius didn’t choose the right solutions and none of the situations ended in a goal.

In the 60th minute, Vinicius was determined to take charge of the situation, going around several opposing players and his shot into the top left corner had to be stopped by the incredible Neuer. By then, Real Madrid fans must have been thinking that the German would not score today.

The key moment came in the 88th minute, when the Brazilian made a decisive save and shot from outside the box. The shot didn’t look at all dangerous at first, it flew straight at Neuer, but he just cleared it in front of him and the onrushing Joselu knew his way around.

Vinicius after the game

The Brazilian went to collect the player of the match award and as usual, the journalists were waiting for him. “President Fiorentino Pérez, thank you for bringing me to the best club in the world,” Vinicius said with emotion.

The Brazilian won the man of the match award in both semi-final duels and was a key figure in Carlo Ancelotti’s team. Together with hero Joselo, he is thus the biggest contributor to the progression to the Champions League final, which will be played on June 1 in Webley.
