Twenty-six-year-old winger Ousmane Dembélé was one of the main figures in Wednesday’s PSG-Barcelona clash, making his way into his former employer’s net. However, his subsequent joy significantly antagonised the Catalan fans.

Ousmane Dembélé arrived at Barcelona in the summer of 2017 from Borussia Dortmund for a whopping €135 million. This made him, along with Philippe Coutinho, the most expensive signing in the club’s history. To this day, no one has beaten that record.

However, the French international has failed to reach his full potential in Spain. However, we must mention that frequent and long injuries have played a big part in this.

In the Barcelona jersey, he played 185 competitive matches in total, scoring 40 goals. He added 43 assists. Among other things, he contributed to winning two championship titles.

In the summer of 2023, he decided to change engagements, which did not go down well with the Catalan club’s supporters. PSG brought him in for 50 million euros and agreed to terms with the player until the summer of 2028.

The quarter-final draw was very spicy for the 2018 world champion. In fact, PSG ran into Barcelona and the opening match was played at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday. Dembélé’s moment came two minutes after the change of sides when he provided the equalising goal.

But to the surprise of the fans, he let his emotions show and celebrated his first goal in the current Champions League season. However, his goal did not bring Luis Enrique’s team a draw in the end.

“Dembélé wasn’t shy, he was happy about the goal as if he had scored in the final after many years of playing,” reads one of the most popular comments on Barcelona’s Instagram account. “All Barcelona fans should stop watching Dembélé,” adds another supporter.

It can be expected that a very stormy atmosphere awaits the Frenchman in the rematch at Camp Nou. Moreover, his team will have to make up for a one-goal deficit, which will certainly not be an easy task.
