The boxing world is in great anticipation. The legendary Mike Tyson will reportedly be back in the ring later this year. He could be tempted to make a big comeback by a hefty payday, with the fight set to take place in Saudi Arabia. Who should be his opponent?

In the world of combat sports, he was considered the most frightening boxer on the planet in his era. Now, he is enjoying a well-deserved rest, but every now and then a media report about a possible return between the sixteen ropes and the whole world is instantly on its feet.

Mike Tyson used to terrify his opponents at the turn of the 90s with just a glance. His aggressive style of boxing also made him the youngest heavyweight boxing champion at just twenty years old, a record he still holds today.

Now 57 years old, the “old man” runs a business with his cannabis products and occasionally appears in the media space, where he always generates a lot of interest. Most recently he was seen training former UFC champion Francis Ngannou for his boxing debut against WBC world champion Tyson Fury.

“Iron Mike” is simply attracting attention, just as he did three years ago when he announced his return to the ring. In November 2020, he will face another iconic boxing legend, Roy Jones Jr. While the bout officially ended in a draw at the time, it was the elder Tyson who dictated the pace of the fight.

Mike Tyson is reportedly returning to the ring

Now, news of another possible comeback has leaked out. Australian site From The Stands has released information on their X platform that Mike Tyson will have another fight. His opponent would be former MMA star, New Zealander Mark Hunt.

Hunt is considered a heavyweight legend by the Pride or UFC organizations. Currently, the 49-year-old fighter, like his potential opponent, is spending his time in fighting retirement. The last time we saw him was in 2018, when he succumbed to Justin Willis.

The fight with Tyson is set to be billed as an eight-round boxing exhibition held in Saudi Arabia. The event is reportedly close to being officially announced, with a date set for December this year.

Of course, this is only speculation. However, the return of both combat sports legends would certainly mean a big boom among fans. Many might criticize that a boxing match with an MMA fighter should be a one-sided affair.

However, make no mistake. Hunt is considered a feared puncher who has fought legends of the sport such as Alistair Overeem, Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis. Plus, let’s not forget the fact that the New Zealand fighter is seven years younger.

But Tyson, too, is definitely not an old man. As you can see from his occasionally released videos, he is still keeping fit. A fight with Hunt could be an attractive spectacle.
