The tennis tournament in Ostrava starts on Monday. Naturally, with a big participation of Czech players. Who are among the biggest favourites?

Five Czech players – Lukáš Rosol, Zdeněk Kolář, Patrik Rikl, Martin Kumich and Jiří Lehečka – will take part in the clay challenger Ostragroup Open 2021.

However, none of them will play the role of a seeded player. The Czech five could be completed by players from the qualification. Michael Vrbensky or Andrew Paulson could have played, but neither of them succeeded.

Adam Pavlásek, who was considered a great talent in the past, is still in the pool.

But back to the main competition. The number one player of the tournament will be the Frenchman Gregoire Barrere from the second hundred of the world ranking. On the other side of the leaderboard we will find the twenty-one year old Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wilde.

Aslan Karatsev, who dominated the last edition of the tournament, will not appear on the clay courts in Ostrava this time. The new champion of the tournament, who will add 80 points to the ATP ranking, will be decided on Sunday 2 May.

The last Czech winner of the Ostrava tournament is Jiri Vesely, who lifted the trophy in 2013. Before him, Lukáš Rosol, Jan Hájek, Jiří Vaněk, Bohdan Ulihrach, Ivo Minář and Lukáš Dlouhé managed to win the title.
