Sunday afternoon will bring a very interesting duel between Rafael Nadal and Stefanos Tsitsipas. Will the Spanish tennis player claim his twelfth domestic title?
Rafael Nadal is probably the best tennis player of all time on clay. His record of 494 wins and just 41 losses is testament to that. On clay, he has almost half of his career wins.
The start of the tournament in Barcelona, which he has won eleven times, did not find him in ideal form. He lost a set against both Ivashko and Nishikori, but his game improved as time went on.
His final opponent will be Stefanos Tsitsipas, a 22-year-old Greek. He is ranked fifth in the ATP rankings and has won an incredible 28 duels in 2021.
Moreover, he has not lost a single set in Catalonia, following on from the Monte Carlo tournament, which he won without much trouble. He also managed to beat the extremely talented Jannik Sinner, among others.
So what to bet on? Although according to the bookmakers the home player is the favourite, Stefanos Tsitsipas is in better form at the moment. The chances of victory are therefore at least even.
The fact that Stefanos Tsitsipas is not without a chance is also evidenced by their last match. He managed to win it despite being down 0-2 in sets. I expect the Greek to win on Sunday as well.
