The French Open is in full swing and with it the absolute king of this grand slam, Rafael Nadal. He’ll take on the home team’s Corentin Moutet in the second round.
There is no one who knows the long-term recipe for Rafael Nadal on clay. The Spanish king can be beaten miraculously at the French Open, but it certainly doesn’t happen very often.
The most successful tennis player in history has won a record 21 Grand Slams, including 13 at Rolland Garros. This year, although he is struggling with injuries, he remains one of the biggest favourites to win the overall title.
In his first match in Paris, Nadal took on the 82nd ranked player, Australian Thompson 6: 2, 6: 2, 6: 2. The Spaniard dispatched his opponent in 2 hours and 4 minutes.
Moutet knocked out Stan Wawrinka, who has only recently returned from a long-term injury. The 139th ranked player won 2: 6, 6: 3, 7: 6 and 6: 3.
Nadal has never met Moutet before, it is also a clash of generations. The 35-year-old Nadal has been on the circuit for some time now, the 23-year-old Moutet has so far gone the furthest at a Grand Slam until the third round (FO 2019, UO 2020).
Nadal could be off to a fast start to get his cool. That’s why it’s offered to believe that Moutet won’t play many games in the first round.
