Although he celebrated his 40th birthday a few days ago and has been retired from football since 2019, Fernando Torres has lost none of his abilities. He flashed some awesome goals while training with the legends of Liverpool, his former club.

The national break is an ideal time to concentrate on interesting exhibition matches. On Sunday, for example, the legends of Liverpool in England and Ajax Amsterdam in the Netherlands will face off. Some interesting names will go into action and the battle will take place at Anfield.

Players like Daniel Agger, Dirk Kuyt, Steven Gerrard, Martin Škrtel, Ryan Babel, Maxi Rodriguez and Fernando Torres will be in the Reds jersey, while Sven-Goran Eriksson will lead the team.

The game will take place on Saturday afternoon, but before that the stars have trained together and shown what form they are in. Fernando Torres, a former outstanding goal scorer, made the biggest impression with several exhibition goals.

Fernando Torres shone at the Legends training session

El Niño, as his nickname goes, burst into adult football in the jersey of Atlético Madrid, of which he became a legend, but he also made a significant mark in England. He first shone at Liverpool, where he was one of the best players not only in the Premier League.

It was no wonder that rivals wanted him. That’s why he was bought out for a then astronomical £50 million. While he scored goals there too, he didn’t do nearly as well as he did at Anfield or in Spain. When he did score, however, they were important goals.

He played a total of 396 games for Atlético after his return, scoring 129 goals and adding 19 assists. He did even better at Liverpool, scoring 81 goals in 142 duels and assisting another 20. At Chelsea he made 172 starts, scored 45 goals and added 35 assists.

But Fernando Torres also garnered team success. He has won the European Championship twice with Spain, and is also a World Champion. He has won the Champions League, the FA Cup or the Europa League twice.

Now 40 years old, he has lost none of his skill. In training ahead of Liverpool legends’ clash with Ajax, he notched up some exhibition hits, which even the club’s social media channel shared.
