The game between the Blues and the Kings featured a shootout that went into overtime with a happy ending for the home team. The decisive goal was scored in overtime by Brayden Schenn.

Both teams went into the game with no favourites. St. Louis was on a four-game winning streak, but had lost their last game against Los Angeles. Los Angeles, on the other hand, had lost 13 of their last 15 games.

Czech goalie David Rittich was trusted in the Los Angeles goal for the 10th time this season. After spending much of the season on the farm in the AHL, he grabbed a chance to play for the Pachexies and put in a very good performance. In the 9 games he played in, he picked up 4 wins.

In addition, he maintained a very high hitting percentage of around 93% and pushed his goals against average to 1.86 goals per game. So the Kings have bet on the magic of the Czech goalie in the misery they are in.

Los Angeles’ Adrian Kempe opened the scoring in the 5th minute, assisted by playing legend Anže Kopitar. He scored his 41st point of the season. Overall, he recorded his 773rd career assist and 1,181 points in the regular season.

The tied game was decided in overtime by Brayden Schenn

St. Louis tied the game during the first period when defenseman Nick Laddy beat Rittich for the first time. Jaret Anderson-Dolan put the Kings back in front in the sixth minute of the second period. However, the Blues were able to turn the score around within six minutes.

After the Czech goaltender was beaten by Pavel Buchnevich and Jordan Kyrou. However, the Kings were able to get back into the game at the end of the period after Phillip Danault scored, assisted by defensive legend Drew Doughty.

With the score not changing during the third period, the game went into overtime, with Brayden Schenn deciding the game after 64 seconds. David Rittich capitulated for the fourth time in the game, giving St. Louis their fifth straight win. Los Angeles suffered its 14th defeat in the last 16 games.
