Seattle made the most of their home environment after beating Columbus on their home ice to get the necessary two points in the playoffs. Jordan Eberle was the main contributor to the victory, scoring three goals.

In the game Seattle Kraken vs Columbus Blue Jackets (4:2) the home team scored a very important victory in the playoffs. The new team, which entered the NHL only the season before last, is in 10th place in the ”over-hyped” Western Conference.

However, the battle for the top eight is very tight. The difference between the seventh place team, the Los Angeles Kings, and the 12th place team, the Calgary Flames, is only five points. So any defeat can have fatal consequences.

Seattle presented a better impression on their ice against the Jackets. They also fulfilled the paper assumptions of a favourite, as the Columbus team is penultimate in the Eastern Conference. Only Ottawa is worse. The hero of the game was the forward of the “krakens” Jordan Eberle. He would score three goals for the home team, scoring two of them, including the winning goal.

Jordan Eberle was instrumental in the win

He scored on the power play and became only the fourth player in the club’s short history to score at least 10 power play goals. Jarred McCann is the record holder with 22 goals, followed by Jaden Schwart (12) and Oliver Bjorkstrand (11).

Jarred McCann’s goal, which put Seattle ahead 2-0, was his 20th of the season. And he and Eberle are the only two players to eclipse the 20-goal mark in all three seasons in franchise history.

The team was also supported by goalkeeper Joey Daccord, who notched 30 successful saves. This marked his 15th game-winning goal. Only Yegor Chinachov was the home team’s goalie, as he was responsible for both Blue Jackets goals. However, his performance was again not enough for Columbus to beat the team from Seattle. The Blue Jackets fell to this team for the fourth time in a row.

Seattle is on track to play for the Stanley Cup for the second time in the franchise’s short history after a rocky start to the 2021-22 season, when they were still in the playoffs. Last year, the team managed to reach the second round of the playoffs, where it fell in a seven-game battle with Dallas.
