The opening game of the Dallas vs. Colorado quarterfinal series was better for the visitors and after overtime they got a point for a 3:4 win. The Avalanche’s first line was again the biggest contributor, with each player scoring 2 points.

Dallas entered the game more active. In the 14th second of the game Radek Faksa got into a good shooting position, but his backhand attempt was directed only to the goalie. The score was opened in the 8th minute by experienced defender Ryan Suter, whose shot from the blue line ended up in the net.

The Stars increased their lead in the 11th minute. Right after winning the faceoff, Wyatt Johnston fired a shot inside the left circle and the 20-year-old Canadian gave Aleksandar Georgiyev no chance. Johnston scored his 5th goal in this year’s playoffs.

with 3 minutes left in the 1st period, Dallas played a 5-on-3 power play, which they were fortunate enough to take advantage of. Miro Heiskanen traded the puck with Jason Robertson at the blue line, who fired a shot that was luckily tipped into the net by Jamie Benn. The Stars had a dream first period.

Colorado got back into the game in the 6th minute of the middle period when Valeri Nichushkin capitalized on a power play. The Russian forward was the first to spot a loose puck in the crease, which Cale Makar brought in and easily knocked into the net. 3:1.

2 minutes later, Craig Smith was ejected and the Avalanche got another power play. This time Nichushkin set up Makar’s shot from the blue line and one of the best offensive defensemen in the NHL scored Colorado’s 2nd goal.

The visitors were able to equalize right at the start of the 3rd period. After 39 seconds, the puck bounced to a wide open Nathan MacKinnon after a shot by Mikko Rantanen and the Canadian forward scored with an accurate shot into the open net.

During the overtime, Tyler Seguin and Johnston had the winning goals, but Georgiyev scored against both shooters. At the beginning of the 12th minute of regulation time, Miles Wood stepped into the skates, the American forward eluded all defending players, made a save on a helpless Jake Oettinger and decided the game in Colorado’s favor.
