Who could we see in the Formula One seat this year or Reserve drivers of all teams

Sometimes it happens that one of the pilots cannot start the race, either because of illness or injury. That’s why Formula One teams have a reserve driver or drivers ready to jump into the monocoque. Today, we’re going to take a look at who might be in the line-up for each team.

Red Bull

The Austrian team has Liam Lawson ready. A 22-year-old racer from New Zealand, who had to jump into the monocoque of sister team Alpha Tauri last year for the injured Daniel Ricciardo and drove five races. He also raced in the Japanese Super Formula series last year.

Mercedes

Mercedes could have two drivers in the Mercedes monocoque. The primary choice would be Mick Schumacher, son of the legendary Michael. He drove for the Haas team in 2021 and 2022 and won Formula 2 in 2020. The second could be Frederik Vesti, a 22-year-old driver from Denmark who was Formula 2 runner-up last year.

Ferrari

The Italian team has three drivers in reserve that we could see on the track. The first is Oliver Bearman. An eighteen-year-old British driver, this year’s Formula 2 participant and winner of the Italian and German Formula 4. The second is Antonio Giovinazzi. A thirty-year-old driver from Italy who raced for Sauber for three seasons and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Ferrari last year.

The last is Robert Shwartzman, a 24-year-old racer of Russian-Israeli descent, Formula 3 winner and 2021 Formula 2 runner-up.

Aston Martin

Twenty-three-year-old Brazilian driver and 2022 Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich is expected to take the wheel of the Aston Martin, having already replaced the injured Lance Stroll in pre-season testing last year.

Mclaren

The British team is taking a different route and has drivers who are not as well known in Europe as reserve drivers. The first is Pato O’Ward, a 24-year-old from Mexico who races for McLaren in the Indycar series. The second is Ryo Hirakawa, a twenty-nine year old Japanese racer, last year’s participant in the Japanese Super Formula and this year’s driver in the Hypercar series.

Alpine

The French team is betting on Jack Doohan, a twenty-one-year-old racer from Australia. He was third in the Formula 2 championship last year.

Stake F1 Team Kick

This Swiss team is betting on two young and talented drivers. The first is Theo Pourchaire, a twenty-year-old French racer, last year’s Formula 2 winner and this year’s Japanese Super Formula participant. The second is Zane Maloney, also a 20-year-old racer from Barbados, who will be in Formula 2 for the Rodin team in 2024.

Haas

The American stable would bet on its reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi, a twenty-seven-year-old racer from Brazil and grandson of the famous Emerson. He has experience in other racing series such as Super Formula, DTM and Indycar. The team has also announced that Oliver Bearman will be the second reserve driver thanks to the collaboration with Ferrari.

Sister team Red Bull would most likely put Liam Lawson in the monocoque just like last season.

Williams

The British team hasn’t officially announced a reserve driver yet, but thanks to a close collaboration with Mercedes, one of their reserve drivers would likely be behind the wheel.
