- Barcelona mainstay would like to spend his entire career at the club
- She would like to be one of the legends
The talented winger Lamine Yamal is starting his third season in Barcelona’s senior team. Still just 17 years old, the footballer made his debut last April in a match against Real Betis.
In the following season, he was already playing regularly and became one of the leaders of the team. Yamal has played 35 league games in which he scored five goals and five assists. He was also a regular in the Champions League.
Thanks to his form, there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that he would be in the Spain squad for the Euros. He scored one goal, assisted four and dazzled the fans at the tournament. He became one of the best players of the tournament and helped Spain to win the whole tournament.
Yamal wants to be a Barcelona legend
“I hope I never leave Barcelona, I want to become a legend of the club,” Yamal told El Hormiguero. He then added that he wants to be himself and not be seen as a successor to anyone.
“To be compared to the best in history is incredible and it means you are doing something right, but I am trying to be myself. I want to be remembered as Lamine Yamal,” he added.
“At clubs like Barca, psychologists prepare you from a young age, I’ve been prepared since I was a kid. I’m looking forward to the future. Since the European Championships everyone is happier, people are smiling more. It was a dream,” he concluded.
After the national break, Yamal can now look forward to the next LaLiga game. On Sunday afternoon, Barcelona will take on Girona, where Ladislav Krejci is also playing, in a small derby at home.
