Manchester United officially announced this week that Erik ten Hag, previously coach of Dutch side Ajax Amsterdam, will become its new head coach from the new season. The acclaimed strategist will have to deal with big stars. He sent them a clear warning from afar.
Erik ten Hag has been coaching the famous Ajax Amsterdam since December 2017, but a big change awaits him in the summer when he moves to England after a glorious year, where he will be tasked with returning the famous Manchester United to the top.
At Old Trafford, he will meet stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Raphael Varane. So he will potentially have to face some big egos. But would he be afraid of that? He isn’t.
In a recent interview, he admitted that he believes the Red Devils stars can handle it. “But I will always be myself. I won’t change my view on coaching. The type of players you have at your disposal determines the way you play, but I control the demands and the tasks that are asked of the players. I decide who has what tasks,” Goal quoted ten Haga as saying.
If someone does not fulfill his duties and tasks, the Dutch coach will draw his attention to it considerably. Whoever that may be is said to be.
From the sound of Hague’s statement, he likes to keep things under control. And it will be no different with transfers. He wants to have his say in the transfer business, it was his condition to sign for Manchester United.
He will be under huge pressure in England, he will be required to succeed as quickly as possible. However, he is aware of that and with his involvement with Ajax, it won’t be anything completely new for him. But the pressure will be all the greater because he will be coaching in the most watched competition in the world.
