Will Cristiano Ronaldo have a new coach? Al Nassr reacts to embarrassing results, wants the strategist who won the league with AC Milan
Cristiano Ronaldo is starting his third season in Saudi Arabia and although he is scoring goals, he is not scoring as a team. He has failed to win any trophies with the club since his arrival at Al Nassr, despite having other big stars by his side. No wonder the management is looking for a new coach.

He has failed to win any trophies with the club since his arrival at Al Nassr, despite having other big stars by his side. No wonder the management is looking for a new coach.
- Al Nassr has not had an ideal start to the new season
- He has been losing points to his rivals since the first round
- Cristiano Ronaldo could see a new coach
Two games, one draw, one win. Al Nassr faltered in the first round of the new Saudi Arabian league season. However, it must be mentioned that he didn’t have an ideal preparation either. After all, during that time he “confirmed” how he is compared to European clubs.
The Saudi Arabian team played seven preparatory matches, winning only one against Portuguese Mariti (2nd Portuguese league). Otherwise, it lost to Portimonense (2nd Portuguese league), Porto, Granada and Almeria (2nd Spanish league). It drew with Lusitano (4th Portuguese league) and Farense (1st Portuguese league).
Although Cristiano Ronaldo was absent in all the matches, the club had stars like Sadio Mané, Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles, Anderson Talisca and Otavio at its disposal. Still, we keep hearing that the league in Saudi Arabia has great quality and the fact that the Real Madrid legend is scoring goals for the national team is proof of that.
But back to Al Nasser. He is currently being led as coach by Luis Castro and even he seems unable to break the wait for a trophy. The deckchair under him is more than tilted and the foreign media is clear that he will be replaced. They even seem to know who will take his place.
Ronaldo will probably get a new coach
The Saudi Arabian team is not winning even though they have big stars in their squad. The biggest one is, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo. Even he would definitely like to get his hands on a trophy. After all, he hasn’t held one since 2021.
A change of coach will change that. According to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta, Castro is to be replaced by Italian strategist Stefano Pioli, the former AC Milan coach who broke the Italian club’s long wait for the title.
Pioli has been out of work since the summer, yet he still has a contract with AC Milan that pays his salary until the summer of 2025, or until the Italian signs for a team. In the last few days, there was speculation that Al Ittihad would take over, however, negotiations collapsed and it is Al Nassr who wants to take advantage.
Meanwhile, Al Nassr considered bringing in Sergio Conceicao, former Porto coach and compatriot of the famous CR7, but Pioli seems to the club’s management as a better option.
Ronaldo and co. will soon challenge their biggest rival – Al Hilal. It is possible that this match will break Castro’s neck.
