A volley from the middle of the pitch and an incredible shot! Alfie May scored goals in England’s third highest football competition that he will never forget.
A day to remember! Alfie May, a player of the British third-tier club Cheltenham, will probably not be short of offers from higher leagues. He made his presence felt with his performance yesterday.
What the greatest football stars in history have failed to do in their entire careers, one lucky man did in less than an hour. Alfie May, who plays for Cheltenham in the Third Division, took his team to Peterborough, the ninth team in the table.
But the team fighting to stay in League One got an important three points from the away game, thanks largely to the performance of their striker. However, the way the said offensive player scored his two goals went around the world.
First, in the 21st minute of the match, he increased his team’s lead with an incredible volley from the half that bounced behind the back of the home team’s run out goalkeeper. A strike that is likely to play a part in The Best FIFA Football Awards of 2023.
But that certainly wasn’t all from his side. Sixteen minutes before the end of normal time, he decided his team’s three-goal win with another superb volley from outside the sixteen, which swept the spiders in the home goalkeeper’s net.
May has been in solid form recently and it was his twelfth goal this season. His goals in particular have kept Cheltenham above the relegation zone. Will the 29-year-old make any interesting moves to higher competition?
