Arsenal won the 21st round of the Premier League, beating Crystal Palace 5-0 at home in the London derby. Unconventionally, two goals were scored by stopper Gabriel Magalhaes. And after the change of sides Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli scored twice.
Arsenal responded to the shooting crisis with a great performance. Gunners started very actively on home soil and quickly took the lead, with Gabriel Magalhaes scoring with a header after a corner kick.
In the 14th minute, it could have been a two-shot game. As Jefferson Lerma sent the ball into the clutch of his own net in a messy situation. Otherwise, it was a game of whitewash to whitewash, with neither team taking many shots from distance.
The visitors responded in the 32nd minute, but Eberechi Eze’s direct kick only found the red and white wall. The Eagles’ good passage of play continued with Jefferson Lerma’s shot from distance. But goalkeeper David Raya was able to head the ball out for a corner kick.
At the other end, Gabriel punished again after a standard situation. This time he had a much easier job at the back post.
Leander Trossard’s shot from a good position closed the first half. But he missed it by a lot and Arsenal were only 2-0 up at half time. The start of the second half was active from both sides. Firstly Raya had to head in a corner against Ezema.
A minute later Trossard had a chance on the other side. But the ball got tangled under his feet and he couldn’t get a shot off. In the 59th minute, the Belgian made it three when he finished off a quick break after a Gabriel Jesus pass.
Eze was the only one in the Eagles’ squad to make an effort, testing Raya from another cross in the 64th minute. The Gunners, on the other hand, enjoyed the game, with further opportunities missed, first by Emile Smith-Crowe, then by captain Martin Odegaard.
Arsenal scored twice more in injury time, after two breakaways Gabriel Martinelli headed to the back post on both occasions. The Gunners are two points behind first-placed Liverpool after the win, with the Reds due to play Bournemouth on Sunday.
