Andreas Michailidis has been in the UFC, but the biggest fight of his career awaits him in the Oktagon: Crazy, I’m getting a lot more attention

The OKTAGON 51 gala evening will take place on 29 December, culminating the first year of Tipsport Gamechanger. Andreas Michailidis and Bojan Velickovic will appear in the final. The former admitted that despite his stint in the UFC, this is the biggest fight of his career.

When Oktagon came out with the news that Andreas Michailidis would be taking part in the Tipsport Gamechanger, there wasn’t much of a fuss about it. A few people may have seen him as a dark horse, but he wasn’t one of the main favorites.

He came straight from the UFC, where he measured his strength with big names. Although he lost three of his four fights, one of his conquerors was Alex Pereira, who eventually dominated not only the middleweight division, but unfortunately also the light heavyweight division when he defeated Jiri Prochazka. Rinat Fakhretdinov is also worth mentioning.

But now we know that he made it to the final. And he didn’t have an easy road. He defeated the popular Apollo, who is one of the best that the Oktagon has. “I was coming off two losses, mentally the win kicked me up,” Michailidis admitted the importance of the match in the documentary The Road to the Oktagon.

He subsequently defeated Marcel Grabinski, knocking out the biggest favorite of the entire pyramid, Louis Glismann, in the semifinals. Now he faces a challenge in Bojan Velickovic.

“It’s funny that Bojan and I have always shared the same locker room since the first match. We wished each other good luck. Last time, we wished that we could reach the final together. Now it’s here,” Michailidis revealed.

“I get a lot more attention in the Oktagon than I did when I was in the UFC. It’s crazy. I feel a lot of support from the people in Greece. A lot of Greeks from all over Europe are sending me rights to come to the tournament. They want me to give them a win as a New Year’s present,” Spartan said.

Andreas has already revealed in an earlier interview with Ruik that he would like to get the Oktagon to Greece, or work with them in some way. The reason is simple. After all, even his coach Dimitris Moxou says that the Oktagon engagement has brought more than they ever expected, and that Michailidis has basically conquered the domestic MMA scene thanks to it.

And what to expect from the fight? “A five-round fight is always something completely different. I’m ready for five rounds, but I think the fight will be over sooner,” reports the Greek hunk.
