Octagon boasted sensational news on Wednesday night. There is a huge interest in the tournament at the football stadium in Frankfurt. If it keeps going like this, it could sell out long before it takes place. In addition, the organisation may attack a world record. What does the management say?

Hats off to them. When OKTAGON MMA was founded, probably few people expected how far it would go. It has become the dominant leader on the Czechoslovak scene and is currently battling with the traditional and much longer-established KSW brand for the European number one position.

Ondřej Novotný and Pavol Neruda have so far managed to successfully establish their brand in Germany, and they are trying to do the same in the UK, but so far it hasn’t been so successful. Nevertheless, they are heading towards great success with interesting and unique projects.

Last year, Oktagon received a nomination among the top five MMA organizations in the world, Novotny was even nominated among the promoters. But would the owners settle for that? They didn’t. This year, they’re looking to do even bigger things.

Already on June 8, the Prague Eden with a capacity of about 27,000 seats will see the OKTAGON 58 gala. It will be the biggest tournament in the history of the organization and for a long time the biggest MMA tournament in our country.

But October 12 will be the biggest day for the fastest growing brand in the MMA world. It will break records. Not just his own, not just German, not just European. World. Will it succeed?

The Octagon is going for a world record. What does the management say?

Oktagon is now at home in Germany. Maybe even more than in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. That’s why it’s decided to hold a gala at the football stadium in Frankfurt. It has a capacity of about 55,000 seats, but it can be inflated a little more.

“The capacity is set so that it should fit about 58,000 people. We will try to achieve that. It’s a huge thing for us just to be able to do that and exceed our expectations,” Pavol Neruda, co-owner of the organization, told Sport.cz.

The event is still five months away. Still, on Wednesday evening Oktagon already boasted that 40,000 tickets had been sold. “We are absolutely thrilled about it. It’s awesome. It’s exceeded our expectations. We thought that it would take us much longer to reach such a number and that by this time we might be at 30 thousand,” admits Ondrej Novotny’s partner.

Neruda praises the fact that Oktagon has the wind in its sails and that it is easier to work with. He doesn’t have to look so much at ticket sales and can instead focus on improving the show. “Overall, make sure it’s the biggest tournament of all time,” he said.

That’s far from happening. If 58,000 tickets could be sold, it would be a world record. The Octagon would surpass both the UFC and KSW. The biggest organization on the planet saw the biggest attendance at UFC 243, with 57,127 spectators.

KSW 39 in Warsaw’s “Coliseum” was attended by 57,776 spectators. Of course, many people point out the even bigger attendance of PRIDE and K-1, but these were not pure MMA events.

Ondrej Novotny, by the way, said earlier that the capacity could potentially be increased up to 65,000 seats.
