Kincl double champion? Even if he loses to Vemola, he is a legitimate challenger to the Brit in the Veltru, said promoter Novotný
Ondřej Novotný revealed that Patrik Kincl can be a double champion this year. Whatever the outcome of his middleweight fight with Vemola, Patrik is the rightful challenger to welterweight champion Kaiko Brito.
Ondřej Novotný revealed that Patrik Kincl can be a double champion this year. Whatever the outcome of his middleweight fight with Vemola, Patrik is the rightful challenger to welterweight champion Kaiko Brito.
But the middleweight champion chose the path of defending his title with Terminator, which many fans found hard to understand. After all, their 2019 rematch in the then XFN organization was supposed to happen twice already, but each time the fight was eventually scrapped.
First, Vémola left for the rival Octagon and then had to cancel the fight due to injury at the end of last year. Kincl told the public after the announcement of the decision that the main reason for his decision was the conclusion of a long-standing story with Vémola and the difficulty of the rematch. After all, Gamechanger will be played in five tournaments throughout the year.
However, Oktagon owner and promoter Ondrej Novotny has now revealed what may have been another additional motive for his decision.
“Patrik Kincl, win or lose (to Vemola), is a perfectly legitimate opponent for Kaiko Brito during the time Gamechanger takes place,” Novotny said on his MMA Flight Around the World show.
The organization has previously stated that Gamechanger will not be reflected in the Octagon rankings. This is despite the fact that most of the best fighters in the organization’s welterweight division fight there.
“Gamechanger does not interfere with the Oktagon’s rankings table,” the charismatic promoter confirmed.
Some time ago, it was reported by the media that current welterweight champion Kaik Brito would not be a part of the project, a title fight with Kinclo is thus directly encouraged. This is such a unique opportunity for Kinclo to become a double champion for the organization.
