The UFC’s youngest fighter has no small ambitions! I want to be the youngest champion and rule the three scales, says 18-year-old Rosas

He wasn’t even 18 years old when he landed his UFC contract in Dana White’s Contender Series. Now Raul Rosas Jr. has already had a successful debut and has big plans in mind. It’s no wonder the legendary Conor McGregor likes him, too.

Almost a month before his 18th birthday, Raul Rosas Jr. scored the sixth professional win of his MMA career. And it was by far the most important one to that point, as he defeated Mando Gutierrez (25) on points in Dana White’s Contender Series to earn a UFC contract.

Then, at 18 years and 62 days old, he also made his competitive debut in the UFC. He became the youngest fighter in the history of the organization and once again faced a much older and more experienced opponent.

At UFC 282, he swept Jay Perrin in the first round, a 29-year-old fighter who had two UFC fights under his belt and a 10-6 record on fight day. Rosas was already making fun of him before the fight and Conor McGregor liked him as well.

The young fighter has great confidence, great ambition and a knack for entertaining trash-talk. It’s no wonder McGregor was very complimentary of him. Now, moreover, the still relatively fresh 18-year-old Rosas has revealed his goals very specifically.

For he showed up at FuryFC 73, where his older brother Kevin Rosas made his professional debut. He was given the opportunity to come into the cage and speak in front of an audience.

“I don’t care who I’m facing. I’m here to show that there is a level. On April 8, I’ll show my skills again and show that I deserve to fight for the title,” Rosas, who will face Christian Rodriguez (8-1 record) in his next fight at UFC 287, let it be known.

“You have to believe in yourself. No matter who doubts you. I’m telling you, I’m going to be a champion. A lot of people think I’m crazy when I say I’m going to be the youngest champion in the UFC, but I believe in myself and I’m going to be champion in a year at the most,” the talented fighter continued.

And that wasn’t all. He said he wasn’t going to celebrate anything until he had three belts around his waist. In fact, he intends to dominate bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight. So there’s a lot to look forward to.

Because if he does what he says he’s going to do, he’s got an incredible story to tell.
