The story doesn’t end! Macek breaks his silence after third title loss and starts his preparation
Filip Macek has to bite another sports wound. Third title fight on the Oktagon soil and third loss. The Czech bantamweight champion even hinted at the end of his career after his duel with Gustavo Lopez. But it’s obviously not happening. Macek broke the silence and pleased the fans.

OKTAGON 38 was a wonderful culmination of 2022. However, it had a rather unpleasant cherry on the cake for the Czech scene. Filip Macek, who was originally supposed to fight Jonas Magard, but got injured in the preparation, failed to make the title fight again.
When it’s not a title fight, Macek is unstoppable in the Octagon, almost overpowering. But then the fight for the belt comes and something goes wrong. First Tomas Deák beat him in a title fight, then Magard, and now Gustavo Lopez.
While Lopez became the organization’s new star after the tournament, winning countless fans with his likable demeanor, Macek hinted at a possible career ending and has yet to comment.
The American fighter has already managed to give an interview to Ruik in which he spoke about his career and the fight with Macek. The Czech fighter only broke his silence on Friday afternoon.
“A week since the fight and I still don’t know what to write about it. It was supposed to be such a beautiful story about a guy who wanted to make his dream come true and show that anything is possible if you work for it. Well, that didn’t happen. The preparation was mega long and honest. I really gave it everything I had. In the end it turned into a first round loss, so probably the worst case scenario,” he expressed on Instagram.
The good news, however, is that there is no career ending. “So the story isn’t over yet. It’s going to be a bit longer, but that makes the ending (or is it the journey?) all the nicer. I’m sorry I didn’t make it, but all days are not over. I’m heading to the gym and starting more training. And for what? I don’t know yet, but luck favors the prepared. Just like Lopez,” he added.
Still only 31 years old, the seasoned Czech thanked the fans for their support. He said he received many positive messages before and after the game, which he appreciates very much. But now he has a new mission ahead of him.
