Middleweight title shot? If there is a chance to go for the title, I probably won’t hesitate, admitted Peňáz
Matej Peňáz has his first fight since Contender, in which he fell in the first round and did not win a UFC contract. Now he is back in the Octagon and his opponent will be Joel dos Santos. Is he getting closer to a title shot if he wins?

The now 26-year-old Matej Peñaz has his first loss in MMA. It was dealt to him by Sedriques Dumas as part of a UFC contract contender.
Peňáz went down after a submission in the first minute, and his dream, at least for the moment, was dashed. So now he’s back in the Octagon and will be looking for another shot.
However, he probably needs a few more wins to do so, and in a way that can impress UFC scouts.
“It’s in my head a little bit. Or rather, we have some information that an offer from the UFC could come again. But it’s not on the cards right now, I have to get the Dec. 30 fight first.
If the Contender lasso comes, I might do it again. But we’ll see,” said Peñáz in an interview with Kaocko.cz. His current opponent is Joel dos Santos.
The three years older Brazilian last beat Andrey Kalashnik on points, but he lost to, for example, Vlast Čep. If he wins, Peñaz could get close to a title shot.
In the middleweight division, the belt is currently held by Patrik Kincl, who was supposed to have a fight with Karlos Vemola in the same tournament, but first the Terminator’s injury did not allow him to fight, shortly afterwards the Inquisitor announced it, but he was willing to risk surgery.
“I’m mainly curious to see what direction our weight will take next. Patrick is on the Game Changer list. If he really intends to fight there, it will probably mean he will leave the middle division for the whole year. As for Carlos, I have no idea how he is or isn’t medically.
They’re the two biggest names in the division, but theoretically neither of them should be wrestling there right now. That being said, if the opportunity to go for a title came up, I don’t think I’d hesitate. But that’s a very distant future,” he added.
We will know everything in the coming months. However, according to Kinclo’s statements, he is very interested in a rematch with Vemola and Game Changer will probably have to do without him.
