It was 2018 when Patrik Kincl lost to Karlos Vemola under the XFN banner. There was a lot of talk about how much the fight was affected by the eye-poke. Kincl wanted a quick rematch, but he still didn’t get it.

For a while it looked like it would never happen, but when he was offered and accepted an offer from Oktagon at the end of 2021, it was clear that the expected fight would have to happen one day. It was supposed to happen now on December 30, 2022. However, the Terminator’s parts failed and he won’t be entering the fight.

Even if he had, the duel would have already been negatively affected. Vémola would not have been 100% trained, Kinclo for a change would have been consumed by uncertainty for days if the fight would even take place. And he is not happy with the way the situation has developed.

“I didn’t cancel the match, Vémola did. I’m still deciding to just call it a day. I didn’t know for six days, I was nervous, I was annoyed. My wife stood by me a lot and kept me afloat. She took my moods away. I don’t often say this, but she doesn’t deserve this,” he said in an interview with Kaocko.cz.

Kincl admitted that he is resigned about the whole situation and that he is tired of everything about this fight. That’s why he wanted to close this chapter once and for all and move on. He also hinted at the inconvenience of changing the opponent.

After all, he had been focusing on Vemola’s style all through his preparation and he would end up fighting someone completely different. He already knows the name of his opponent, but he can’t reveal it. However, at least he eliminated Aleksandar Ilic, who was also liked by the Octagon.

It’s worth noting that two fighters have offered themselves to the Octagon on social media. Namely Samuel Kristofich and Robert Bryczek. The Pirate understandably wants a rematch, Bryczek has been close to the title once before, however, he has lost three of his last four fights in the Octagon.
