KSW plans to expand into the Czech Republic
Poland’s biggest MMA organization KSW has had a very controversial tournament in Nowy Sadec. In the main preliminary bout of KSW 75, Czech heavyweight Michal Martinek lost on points to Daniel Omielańczuk of Poland.
However, a large part of the professional public expressed their dissatisfaction with the verdict of the judges. Even the fans present, even though it was a home fighter, booed when the results were announced and saw Martinek win.
He protested, but the result remained unchanged. The organization’s president Martin Lewandowski confirmed after the tournament that KSW will be heading to the Czech Republic next year to host the tournament.
Oktagon promoter Ondrej Novotny spoke out against this information some time ago, saying he sees KSW’s expansion into the Czech Republic as a territorial fight. Moreover, he emphasized his position by the fact that he definitely does not intend to let his fighters participate in a possible tournament of the Polish organization.
I’m disappointed with Oktagon’s approach, says KSW promoter
“I don’t know, I have never met this gentleman personally, so I don’t know exactly what he means,” Lewandowski responded to Novotny’s words to TV NOVA. “I heard something and I can only speak according to what my matchmaker told me,” he explained.
“According to that, I’m a little disappointed with the situation, when he wanted to help, we showed him that we are here and we want to cooperate and participate in building MMA,” he said, adding that he gave Oktagon a helping hand in the earlier days.
“Right now, I can say that we are closer with RFA than with OKTAGON MMA,” he surprised. “OKTAGON wanted to cooperate, now they feel strong and it feels like they are sword fighting around each other,” he evaluates the biggest Czechoslovak MMA organization.
“We shared fighters, information, we never turned down anyone who wanted to cooperate,” he described the form of assistance to Oktagon. “But if someone comes on the scene and wants to kick KSW’s ass,” he added.
