At the latest Oktagon 35 tournament in Brno, Patrik Kincl defended his middleweight championship belt by demolishing challenger Alex Lohoré in the first round. The fight was aptly named by the fans as the battle for the Terminator.
The winner of this duel was expected to face Karlos Vémol at the end of the year in Prague’s O2 Arena. The latter is eager to win his second Octagon title after he outpointed Serbian welterweight champion Ilic in the fight for the belt in Štvanica in July.
Karlos began promoting the rematch almost immediately after Kinceloe’s victory. Despite the reluctance of the newly crowned champion, he climbed over the cage mesh and challenged him to a rematch from 2018, when Vémola won a three-round battle within the XFN organization by clear points.
Patrik didn’t want to hear too much about a rematch with Vémola after his title defense and wanted to give himself time to mature his thoughts. Moreover, after Kinceloe’ s statement about a minor injury, his opponent began to suspect that he wanted to back out of the fight.
Although the organization took to its social media to entice fans to see the Terminator return at Octagon 38 in late December, fans became somewhat nervous about the anticipated rematch. Could they be any calmer after the next post?
In fact, Octagon MMA shared a post on Instagram with the caption “Showdown.” Is this a hint of an expected rematch with Kinclo? Taking a cue from the famous Terminator 2:: Day of Reckoning, it looks like a rematch is indeed coming.
“The dice are rolled, Monday 9:00 am,” the organization refers in the post to the information that they will launch an interesting news on Monday morning. The fact that the post was tagged by Patrik Kincl himself only underscores the speculation. Will we see retaliation?
