Inter Miami hosted FC Cincinnati in their twenty-second match of the season and wanted to try to break the unflattering record, having only managed to win once in their last six matches.
And at first, Miami was successful. In the 23rd minute, Argentina’s Higuaín opened the scoring in truly spectacular fashion. You can see his goal for yourself in the attached Twitter post below.
Five minutes later, however, Brenner scored for Cincinnati – 1:1. In the 37th minute, however, another Higuaín moment came when he pulled the lead back to the home side. Miami didn’t hold on for long, however, and three minutes later Brenner tied the game again.
But Higuaín struck once more before half-time. At the end of the five-minute setup, after a foul, he put the ball on the penalty spot and made no mistake from the ensuing kick – 3: 2.
In the 49th minute, Miami’s goal was disallowed due to offside, which could have been even more frustrating for the home team’s fans, as Brandon Vazquez turned the tide in the 81st and 86th minutes. It seemed that Cincinnati would bring this match to a victorious end.
However, the crazy game was ended by a goal from Swedish defender Christopher McVey in the seventh minute – 4:4. Eight goals in one game, a perfect game to the unbiased viewer’s eye.
So both teams took a point. Cincinnati is currently in seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 29 points, Inter Miami is in eleventh place. Higuaín, who joined Inter Miami in 2020 from Juventus Turin as a free agent, has scored four goals in 15 games in the current season.
In total, the 34-year-old forward has played 56 games for the Miami club, scoring 17 goals and assisting on 9 others.
