The Octagon 34 main title bout will be brought to you by Karlos Vémola, who is known for his ground fighting, and the pure stand-up fighter Aleksandar Ilic. Will the Terminator surprise the Joker with his steel fist?
The wrestler Vémola versus the stand-up Ilić will provide the title fight at the Štvanica
A clash of styles? That’s what you could call the main event of the Oktagon 34 gala. It will be hosted by Serbian Aleksandar Ilic and Karlos Vémola. The winner takes the Oktagon welterweight championship belt.
While Vémola is a pure ground and pound fighter, his Serbian opponent will certainly want to keep the fight standing. As such, it is widely expected that the Czech Terminator will try to take the Joker to the ground early in the fight and wring him out there.
But Karlos surprised Ondrej Novotny’s podcast with his high confidence. In the match, according to him, we will see a brand new Terminator who will definitely not be afraid of posturing exchanges.
Vémola is looking for the first knockout of his career against a pure stand-up fighter?
“If I failed in the O2 arena, I’d better not make up for it in Štvanici,” Vémola said on MMA Flight Around the World. “Don’t let the dude be surprised,” he held up a warning index finger.
“When I ended the black belt by choke, so as not to knock out the posturing,” he recalled his victory in Frankfurt, Germany, where he stopped Poland’s Pasternak by submission in the first round. The latter is a black belt in BJJ, so few people expected to catch him with his own weapons.
Will the Terminator surprise the Joker or will the fight go the traditional way?
“When I had the guys from London in here and I told them to watch the takedown so I wouldn’t throw them, I noticed their hands were falling a little bit,” Vémola noticed the holes in his sparring partners’ defense. “They were so afraid of the takedown that they were letting me get away with different combinations,” he hinted at a possible surprise for his opponent.
“I’m definitely not going to be afraid of any stance changes,” Vémola said. “If you show him that you are afraid of something, his confidence will go up,” he said, aware of his opponent’s qualities. “But I think this dude’s got too much upside, and I’m going to knock him down from the start, ” the Terminator predicts.
How the fight will turn out, we will see in the duel itself. This Saturday we will see the denouement of the next story of the Czech Terminator. The pre-match trashtalk suggests a big battle.
