Nadal has received an interesting challenge! Will he try MMA? The UFC fighter wants to find out which Rafael is the best athlete in the world
Rafael Nadal is undoubtedly one of the best tennis players and athletes of all time. But now he has an interesting challenge. Although it was meant to be rather hyperbolic, its implementation would be highly watched.
Rafael Nadal is undoubtedly one of the best tennis players and athletes of all time. But now he has an interesting challenge. Although it was meant to be rather hyperbolic, its implementation would be highly watched.
The best Rafael in the UFC? It’s decided
The UFC hosted another tournament over the weekend, but this time unnumbered and therefore not as significant. Still, it featured several interesting fights and the main event in particular had a lot of momentum. In the lightweight division, two Rafael fighters faced off.
In particular, it was a fight between Rafael Dos Anjos, a former UFC champion and a seasoned veteran with many fights to his credit, and Rafael Fiziev, who is still building his name and trying to get to the top.
The fight went all the way to the fifth round where the younger Fiziev was able to knock his opponent out. Given that these are the only two Rafaels in the UFC rankings, it’s obvious who the best Rafael is in the best MMA organization.
Fiziev challenged Nadal after the win
Fiziev is the best Rafael in the UFC, it’s just not enough. Now that that’s been decided, he wants more challenges. And there’s a great one on offer. Plus, one that could help his visibility.
It’s obvious that even Dos Anjos, who was a UFC champion, won’t be well known outside of groups of people interested in combat sports. Of course, Fiziev is no different. However, there is one Rafael that everyone knows, even those who don’t follow the sport.
Rafael Nadal is one of the best tennis players of all time, currently reigning the statistic in the number of Grand Slams won (22), having surpassed Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer (both 20). Had he not been plagued by injuries, he might have been fighting for another title at Wimbledon on Sunday.
And it was Nadal who was up to the challenge from Fiziev. “Now we know who is the best Rafael in the UFC. So I want a new challenge:: Who is the best Rafael in the sporting world?” fiziev directs the challenge to the phenomenal tennis player.
Fiziev, with exaggeration, believes he can beat Nadal in tennis as well. And what would their duel look like? “First round tennis, second round tennis, third round tennis, fourth round, ok… More tennis, the fifth round will be in MMA,” Fiziev joked at the press conference.
