Chandler took care of the K.O. of the year at UFC 274
Two weeks ago, another numbered gala of the world’s biggest MMA organization took place, called UFC 274. The main card featured the return of the legendary Tony Ferguson, who was looking to atone for three consecutive defeats to the top lightweight.
His opponent was Michael Chandler, who also had two losses to the same opponents. Although the pundits claimed that the feared Ferguson was past his zenith, the first round was close.
In the second round, however, Chandler delivered a brutal front kick that sent his opponent into dreamland. Video of the terrifying K.O. went around the world, and in particular, a photo of his face during Chandler’s kick went viral on social media.
Legendary Tony Ferguson admits to memory loss after brutal kick
Tony Ferguson has been given a 60-day suspension by doctors after hospital tests and, of course, speculation has sprung up about his future. However, the organization’s owner Dana White stood up for his fighter and indirectly confirmed his continuation in the organization.
After some time, the fighter himself gave a candid interview in which he describes how his head works after such a crazy blow. “All jokes aside, I didn’t want to scare you all,” Ferguson said , according to the Mirror.
“It was a really scary feeling not remembering anything from the start of the second round to the ambulance ride,” he admitted of the memory lapse after the brutal kick. ” I thank God every day that I came back to reality,” Ferguson added gratefully.
The question, of course, is what’s next for the fighter. Four losses in a row is a hard reality for the legend of the sport to face every day. Now he’ll have a long time to sort his thoughts. But the fight showed us that this sport is not for everyone and the risk of serious injury is close at any moment.
