After the formation of the RFA, it was clear that we were in for a fight between these organizations. These began with a tug of war between the wrestlers, now it has come to what was bound to happen. Octagon and the RFA have scheduled a tournament on the same date, and even in the same city!
Oktagon announced on Monday that they will hold their first tournament at the Winning Group Arena in Brno, Czech Republic on September 17. This will mark the first time it will be shown outside of Fortress Brno.
However, fans on social media immediately questioned whether this date is purposeful. After all, the rival RFA will have a tournament in Brno on the same date!
Could there be a purpose behind this? Definitely. But is it really? After all, booking a hall and arranging dates is not exactly easy and it is possible that there was simply no other option.
However, this may not be the only date that will overlap. The tournament at Štvanica has not yet been set, but it is expected to be on July 23, the RFA will have a tournament in Ostrava on that date.
“I didn’t see that they have announced it somewhere. I don’t know if they put it on the same date. We announced all our tournaments and their dates last year so that other organizations could plan accordingly. For example, if I see that someone is planning a tournament, I automatically put it on a different date, we don’t want to cause problems,” RFA promoter Marhanský told Sport.
In short, fans will sometimes have to choose where to go or which tournament to watch. It should be added, however, that Oktagon will certainly not want to limit the dates that the RFA wanted to book for itself.
