Barcelona stumble again and Real Madrid are already reaching for the title! How many points do they need to win to be sure?
An unexpected loss befell Barcelona on Monday night. They lost 0:1 at home to Cadiz and failed to make up for Thursday’s Europa League exit. As a result, Real Madrid are already on the verge of winning the title.

Real Madrid have been the leaders of the competition for virtually the whole season. Virtually its only pursuer has been Sevilla, but it has slowly begun to lose ground, and Barcelona has jumped into second place.
For the Catalans to overtake their rival was more of a fan’s wish, as they got no closer than 12 points. After this weekend, Los Blancos have a lead of even 15 points and are thus relatively close to the title.
With 18 points in play in the remaining six matches, the Merengues just need to get 7. That equates to two wins and a draw, so if they beat Osasuna and then Espanyol, they could secure the title with a spicy draw at the Wanda Metropolitano against Atlético Madrid.
This is all assuming, of course, that Barcelona wins it all. If the Catalans lose points on Thursday to Real Sociedad or at the weekend to Rayo Vallecano, Real can already celebrate at home at the Santiago Bernabéu against Espanyol.
Failing that, the following matches will be followed by clashes with Levante, Cadiz and Betis. Thus, getting 7 points from six matches should not be a big problem for Real.
And Madrid’s domination of La Liga would continue. With Atlético Madrid winning the title last year and Real Madrid the year before, this would be Barcelona’s third season without a championship trophy.
