Does Kincl know the name of the first challenger? It won’t be Vemola, a seasoned Frenchman is in the running
Patrik Kincl has had a successful entry into the Octagon. In February he won the title by defeating Pirate, and now he is slowly looking for his first defense. It was expected that his first challenger could be Karlos Vémola, but the more seasoned Frenchman is in the game.
Patrik Kincl has had a successful entry into the Octagon. In February he won the title by defeating Pirate, and now he is slowly looking for his first defense. It was expected that his first challenger could be Karlos Vémola, but the more seasoned Frenchman is in the game.
In the middleweight Octagon, Patrik Kincl is the new champion since February. He won the title after defeating Samuel Kristofich on points, whom he dominated over four rounds.
Karlos Vémola was also in contention for the title, but he was recovering from health problems. He is now training, but his first fight will be a boxing match with Marpo, and in the summer he would like to fight Rafael Xavier in the welterweight division.
So even though Terminator said that no matter what he would want to fight the Pirate in his return, plans are changing. The reason is simple. Because Vemola would have to drop 84 kilograms twice in quick succession, which wouldn’t be good for his health.
Vémola would like to have a title fight with Kinclo in November or December, he would like to have it in Prague’s O2 Arena. He said it would be a shame if their rematch were to take place in Germany or in the small town of Štvanice.
However, Kincl is not going to wait that long for the match. He himself has now teased fans on Instagram that an announcement of news is on the way and that it’s time to switch from maintenance mode to match mode.
And what kind of fight could it be? There’s literally no one in the middleweight division right now besides Vemola that could challenge Kincelo. In fact, Zdenek Polivka lost his winning streak when he was just beaten by Alex Lohoré in February.
Lohoré challenged Kinc right away at the press conference and now posted another clear message on Instagram, ” We’re going for the title in our next fight.”
This would be the right and completely logical move. Lohoré beat Polívka, who was closing in on a title shot. He only lost to Vemola on points, he is a proven, quality and experienced fighter.
Moreover, the Frenchman has put on weight, so he could trouble his opponents more in the middleweight division than he did before.
