Patrik Kincl became the new Oktagon middleweight champion on Saturday, when he clearly defeated Samuel Kristofich on points. The Czech fighter complained about Pirate’s fouls after the fight, he also said that his fight with Karlos Vemola didn’t make sense.
It was personal, from both sides. Even after the fight was over, the referee had to get involved. As Patrik Kincl promised, he delivered on his promise. He more or less clearly defeated the Pirate on points, literally bullying his opponent for at least three rounds.
Although the Czech fighter claimed in his pre-fight predictions that he would not be satisfied with a points win, he was satisfied with such a victory in the end. He said the fight gave him a lot of new insights.
“I think I presented myself in a good light. I was pleased that the O2 arena was all mine, even though it should have been the other way around from the beginning. There was a great atmosphere, I am satisfied,” Kincl said at the press conference after the tournament.
Pirate faced a point deduction for fouls in the game, according to Kincl, Samuel Krištofič absolutely dehumanized not only their game.
“I’m glad that the Octagon will now have a normal champion for a while. This was an absolutely unprofessional approach to both the organization and the seriousness of the match. It’s below the level of a title fight, but good, it’s going to take me a little further again,” expressed the new champion.
The Czech fighter complained that he took several headers. “For the first time in 35 fights I was grabbed by my shorts, underwear and jockstrap at the same time. Not once, but about 150 times he got completely tangled in my gloves. If anyone’s cool with that… I actually won the game, so I’m okay with it too,” Kincl described the Pirate’s fouls.
The former KSW fighter takes the title as an award for his entire career. He also called for a fight with Karlos Vemola, as he believes that after his dominance over the Pirate, there is no point in fighting Kristofich against the Terminator.
While Kincl says the Pirate definitely did a good job on the ground, he says if it wasn’t enough for him, it can’t be enough for Vemola. According to Kincl, it’s a year’s job, not one or two months.
