Soucek: I want to win the league with West Ham! Which team did you root for as a kid?

Tomas Soucek came to West Ham two years ago in the winter and infected the whole team with his winning mentality and they bounced back from relegation to the Europa League. Now the national captain has set his sights on the ultimate goal with the Hammers.
When Soucek arrived at West Ham in the winter of 2020, the club struggled at the tail end of the table all spring, with rescue only coming in the final rounds. Since the new season, he has been joined by his partner Vladimír Coufal from Slavia, and both fighters have completely captivated the fans and infected their teammates with hard work and a winning mentality.
The Hammers eventually reached the sixth place in the table and were not far from the Champions League, two points short of the TOP 4. But West Ham’s exceptional season seems not to have been an isolated exclamation point, as Soucek and co. are once again on top, after 11 rounds of the Premier League they are in third place in the table just a score behind second-placed Manchester City.
But it may not be the end for David Moyes’ side. In fact, the players are convinced that they can do better, as Tomas Soucek testified in an interview with Sky Sports. When asked if West Ham have what it takes to stay in the Top 4, the lanky midfielder answered confidently.
“Of course we can, I think we could last year. We want to improve this season. If we think about high positions, we can stay there. When I go into a game, I have in my head that I want to win the Premier League,” Soucek told Sky Sports.
He did not avoid the question of which Premier League club he supported as a child. Soucek has said several times that his idol was Tomas Rosicky, so he was clear about the club.
“When I was a kid, my hero was Tomas Rosicky. I supported him at Arsenal and I supported them as a team because when I was a kid they had one of the best teams in the world,” Souček explained his choice.
