Samuel the Pirate Kristofich fulfilled his dream and came for the middleweight title of the Octagon. However, he is still only a provisional, he will have to fight for the regular belt. But he already feels like the richest man in the world. What did he say at the press conference?
The Slovakian wrestler, under the guidance of Attila Vegh, delivered what he said he would. He wanted to win the title, he was convinced of winning it and it actually happened. However, the fight with Marcin Naruszczka was not as clear-cut as Samuel Kristofich imagined.
“I got what I wanted on my journey. I have a beautiful and healthy girlfriend, a beautiful and healthy daughter, so at this moment I am the richest man in the world,” the Pirate let himself be heard at the press conference.
As mentioned, Kristofich was expecting a somewhat easier game. In particular, he expected to be able to handle it better, but he still believed in winning and he did.
Not once in the match did he feel more threatened, he was always sane and in control. Besides, the fight showed him that two weeks of preparation for the fight with Karlos Vemola will definitely not be enough.
He was quite critical of his performance: “I wanted to be more poised and more mobile. Sometimes I stayed unnecessarily long in the shootings and clinches. The tactics didn’t work as I wanted.”
But what matters is the end result and the Pirate is happy with that. However, he injured his hand in the fight and will have to undergo treatment. It’s probably nothing serious.
