Marcus Rashford returned from holiday this week and underwent a scan, after which he was advised to have surgery on the shoulder that has been troubling him since the end of last year. The subsequent treatment should take 2-3 months.

The key Manchester United striker has reportedly been labored with various minor injuries for almost two years. Unfortunately, everything could not be completely brought under control and Rashford, after an agreement with the club, decided to undergo surgery, which should finally solve the long-lasting problem.

“After consulting Marcus, the coach, doctors and specialists, it was decided that Marcus would undergo surgery on his injured shoulder. He will then focus on rehabilitation so that he can return as soon as possible,” the club issued an official statement Friday afternoon.

Rashford was given three weeks off after the European Championships, where he did not play much, to rest after a tough season.

The English winger did play 57 games for Manchester United, scoring 21 goals and assisting 15 others. To this, of course, we must add the starts for the national team.

For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he is an indispensable member of the starting line-up. So who will replace him on the left wing?

There are three solutions! Anthony Martial, who has been used a lot on the left side recently, can play on the left. Another option is to use Daniel James, who has often played on the right side.

And the last option? That is of course Paul Pogba, who was often used by Solskjaer on the left side last season. Indeed, when the Norwegian coach needed a more technical player on the left wing, the French midfielder was the obvious choice.

Solskjaer still has several options on the right side. In particular, the new signing Jadon Sancho should be in the starting line-up. But he also has Mason Greenwood, Amado Diallo and Facundo Pellistri is still in the squad, but he is counted on at least on loan.

Daniel James, for whom this injury could be a win for him as there has been talk of him leaving, can also play in that position if needed.

So Solskjaer still has a lot of options. Not to mention the fact that wingers change their positions during the game just as often.
