The turnover of the tournament was in unbelievable figures. Whether in PPV, sponsorship revenue, total viewership or number of impressions, Novotný admitted
The Oktagon 43 tournament was quite possibly the biggest the organization has hosted. The rematch between Patrik Kincelo and Karlos Vemola or the quarterfinal matches of Tipsport Gamechanger broke records and promoter Ondřej Novotný couldn’t praise the numbers.
Even before the tournament, it was certain that this time it would be really big. The Oktagon 43 gala evening in Prague’s O2 Arena attracted some really stellar names.
Names like Robert Pukač, Miroslav Brož, Robert Bryczek, Louis Glismann, Melvin van Suijdam, Alex Lohoré and David Kozma showed up in the cage. Moreover, the highlight of the evening was the fight between Patrik Kinclo and Karlos Vémola.
A sold-out hall and records in many places were expected. And Oktagon can’t praise the results of the event, the result of the fight between Kinclo and Vemola went all over the Czech internet.
“The turnover of the tournament was in unbelievable figures. Whether in PPVs, sponsor income, foreign TV, total viewership or number of impressions. In the Czech media we had over 300 impressions in three days, which is an incredible number. Hundreds of foreign sites wrote about us, and over 200 media outlets were at the tournament.
We were number one in Google and Seznam searches for a long time. At 1:30 in the morning, 45,000 people watched our press conference on YouTube. At that time, you’re usually happy with a thousand. When you’re over 2,000, it’s a blast. Over three, you’re out of practice. We had 45 thousand!” Ondřej Novotný told Kaocko.cz.
So the tournament has seen a huge interest, but that certainly doesn’t mean there are no plans to move on. Oktagon is heading to the UK for the first time in its history and if it succeeds here, it will be able to seriously talk about being the best organization in Europe.
“It’s always possible to overcome if you keep growing your base. We’ve picked up another 15,000 people on Instagram alone in the last while, and we’re seeing a big increase in data from abroad. World players like DAZN are washing their hands of having us.
We’re actually doing better numbers than Bellator or the PFL, quite simply. But there is always room to grow or rise, also in our country. There are still a lot of people who haven’t heard of Oktagon yet,” he added.
The next Oktagon tournament is coming up on June 17, when the organization will show up in Oberhausen. We can look forward to a fight between Pavol Langer and Alexander Poppeck for the interim title or Christian Eckerlin, Bojan Velickovic, Christian Jungwirth and others.
