Close to the title? Promoter Novotný reveals how far he is from a battle with Kinclo or Vemola

Vlasto Čepo gave a crazy performance in Bratislava. Ion Taburceanu did a lot of damage to his face in the first round, but the Slovakian fighter sensationally ended the fight in the second round. Is he close to the title?

The King of the Underground will score his first fight under MMA rules in the Octagon in October 2020. That’s when Mateusz Strzelczyk was able to defeat him on armbar.

Vlasto Cepo subsequently recognized that he needed to get some practice in MMA, challenge himself, and he did just that. Since then, he has had nine fights, of which he has not won a single one.

He then fought four more times directly in the Octagon and always won and always finished his opponent during a tough shootout. The most recent one was in Bratislava.

Ion Taburceanu gave Cepa a lot of trouble. He created a huge cut on his forehead with a hard elbow. But in the second round the Slovak turned the tide in his favour and finished the fight hard.

In October, he should finally fight Matej Peñaz in Bratislava. If he wins, he would be ranked around 130th in the world according to promoter Ondrej Novotny.

“There wouldn’t be many names ahead of him. It’s pretty obvious that he would deserve a title fight. Of course, the middleweight division is also developing somehow, but Vlasto is certainly not far from a title shot. One, two fights at the most,” Novotny admitted on his MMA Flight Around the World podcast.

Now the middleweight champion is Patrik Kincl, who will face Karlos Vemola in a few days. The alternates for the title fight are Robert Bryczek and Lee Chadwick, who are ideally scheduled to face each other at the O2 Arena.
