The British Daily Mail came out on Monday evening with the information that former Tottenham coach Antonio Conte wants to return to Italy.
Reportedly, the loss of two loyal friends – Gianluca Vialli and Gian Piero Ventrone – convinced him to return.
One of the main reasons is homesickness for his family and his native Italy in general. Conte’s coaching future is, however, very uncertain. However, it seems that the fifty-three year old coach wants to find a job in Serie A.
Now, however, he is returning to Turin, where he intends to be until at least June. He plans to think about his future in his home environment. He will be one of the main observers of the fight for the Champions League places.
Four big Italian clubs – Juventus, AC Milan, Inter and, above all, AS Roma – have already shown interest in his services.
At the moment, he is undoubtedly the best Italian coach who is out of work. However, the financial aspect may be a problem, as Conte’s salary exceeds €10 million.
No club in Serie A is willing to pay him that much money. Conte will therefore apparently have to lower his financial demands if he really wants a job in the Italian top flight that is also satisfactory for such a demanding coach.
Conte has been at the helm of Tottenham since November 2021, with high expectations ultimately failing to be met for a number of reasons. It must be added, statistically, this is Conte’s worst engagement since he unsuccessfully led Atalanta Bergamo in the 2009/10 season.
