Champions League
The ruin of the English units. Not a single Premier League team won in the eight-finals of the LM
Premier League teams have not had a good week. None of the four expatriates managed to win a Champions League semi-final match, with only Manchester City failing to lose.

While last season two English teams reached the semi-finals and one reached the final, things are not looking so good for the island teams in the current Champions League.
Tottenham were the first to do so, losing 0:1 to AC in Milan. Chelsea also came back from away empty-handed, losing 0:1 to Borussia Dortmund.
And Liverpool added the finishing touch to England’s misery by beating Real Madrid at home. They failed to hold a 2:0 lead and conceded five goals.
Island football could rely on Manchester City, who reached the semi-finals last year and the final the year before. Against Leipzig it was also a big favourite. But even the Citizens couldn’t win, drawing 1-1 in Germany.
They clearly dominated the first half, taking the lead and never letting Leipzig in. However, the home side rallied in the second half and the advantage was reversed. Leipzig created three good chances, but only converted the fourth.
Tottenham and Chelsea are not out of the game, after losing by the narrowest of margins they have a home rematch. Worse will be Liverpool, who are no longer a force to be reckoned with. Manchester City should confirm their role as favourites at home and advance.
The last time an English side reached the quarter-finals was the 2019/20 season. Back then, only Manchester City advanced from the eighth round via Real Madrid, Liverpool fell to Atlético Madrid, Tottenham fell to Leipzig and Chelsea fell to Bayern.
