Zaha will leave for free in the summer. But besides Crystal Palace, Manchester United will also lose out. Which clubs are in the running?
Wilfried Zaha has been at Crystal Palace since February 2015 and there has been speculation for years about his departure to a bigger team. But that hasn’t happened yet and now that the skilful winger is 30, he will leave for free in the summer. At least according to talkSPORT.
Wilfried Zaha has been at Crystal Palace since February 2015 and there has been speculation for years about his departure to a bigger team. But that hasn’t happened yet and now that the skilful winger is 30, he will leave for free in the summer. At least according to talkSPORT.
The Ivory Coast striker was nurtured for big football by the London outfit, who sold him to Manchester United for just under €12m in January 2013. Zaha, however, came down hard on David Moyes at Old Trafford, the big talent, with an affair between his daughter and the Abidjan native reportedly playing a part.
the 180cm tall footballer thus had to pack his bags and return to Crystal Palace two years later, who paid €3.8 million for him, with Manchester United set to cash in 25% if he was resold.
This condition made a lot of sense, Zaha was a great talent who was interested in big clubs throughout his career, not only in the Premier League. But as we now know, the London club managed to keep their gem.
However, the great desire to play at a top club remained in Zaha and that is why he did not extend his contract at Selhurt Partek, which expires at the end of this season. So logically, speculations are running rampant about where he might head to.
Zaha is already 30 years old, but he is still in great form, having scored 6 goals and assisted 2 more in 19 league games this season. In total then, he has played 2997 games in the Premier League with a tally of 67 goals and 43 assists.
Zaha’s next club?
Various possibilities are being discussed in the English media. One of them is to follow Cristiano Ronaldo to Saudi Arabia, where he would wear the jersey of Al-Nassr FC.
Chelsea were already interested in Zaha, but they will have to sell rather than buy new reinforcements in the summer. And we are talking all the more about positions where the skilful striker can play.
A big fan of Zaha is reportedly Mikel Arteta, for whom he would be a great signing and for free. It is this transfer that makes the most sense from many different angles.
It will also depend on what exactly the player himself wants. Whether to go for the big money like Ronaldo did, or still try to fight for one of the big trophies.
