Finally! Both fighters wanted this fight. The fans were clamoring for it, too. And we’re all going to see it. Bratislava will offer a duel between two champions and great talents. Losene Keita and Mate Sanikidze will meet for the featherweight title.
Losene Keita is the lightweight champion, while Mate Sanikidze sits on the featherweight throne. The former has then decided to win the welterweight title and so the latter has a lot to look forward to.
The two fighters have been at each other’s throats for quite some time. Sanikidze started it before he became champion and therefore before he beat Jakub Tichota. Keita only started his original trash-talk on the Georgian earlier this year.
First he wanted to make it through his first featherweight fight, which he did. He defeated Samuel Bark and now only Sanikidze stands in his way for the second belt. Ondrej Novotny revealed the information in his podcast MMA Flight Around the World.
Their title fight will be the main event at OKTAGON 42, which will take place on April 29 in Bratislava. So there is really something to look forward to. Novotný didn’t hide his excitement either.
“It is clear that Keita will be better in the trash-talk, Mate’s English is not at such a level that he can go there and back. I think their staredown will be very intense. I’m looking forward to seeing what the difference in their height will be. Sanikidze is big and that may play a role in the match,” says Novotny.
“Keita’s tallest opponent in the Octagon was Rony Paradeiser and he came close to beating Keita. The big Sanikidze can be a tough opponent for him. In short, awesome. Bratislava will get a fight that everyone will want to see,” added the Oktagon promoter.
It is worth mentioning that Keita composed a song for Sanikidze. He even looked for it in the trash when he reportedly couldn’t find it. Sanikidze, however, clearly responded saying that he is sitting on the featherweight throne and that when he beats Keita, Paradeiser will have a piece of him too and Keita will retire after two losses.
