Will Virgil van Dijk stay at Liverpool or move elsewhere? That is a question that will be pondered not only by the club’s management towards the end of this season. After Jürgen Klopp’s departure, things won’t be the same as before, even the Dutch stopper knows.

Dutch stopper Virgil van Dijk moved to Anfield Road in January 2018 from Southampton and almost immediately became one of the most important members of Liverpool’s starting line-up.

However, after so many years with the famous English outfit, the question arises as to how much longer the Breda native will be a part of the entire organisation. For Liverpool are hurtling towards the end of a great era when Jürgen Klopp retires as head coach at the end of this Premier League season.

Van Dijk is now thirty-two years old. He is under contract with the current table leader of the English top flight until the end of June 2025.

So if the Reds decide on some sort of a rebuilding of the squad and Van Dijk is also involved, the ideal timing is of course the upcoming summer transfer window.

After all, as the Tilburg native knows, there will reportedly be quite a few changes after the departure of German coach Klopp. “It’s a big question – I don’t know myself,” the Liverpool stopper said when asked if he will be part of the new era.

“The club has a lot of work to do, a lot of things will change. I am very curious to see what direction it will take,” Van Dijk told The Times.

Van Dijk at Liverpool…

Van Dijk moved to Anfield Road for 84.65 million euros. However, his market value is currently €32 million, according to website Transfermarkt. He has appeared in a total of 246 competitive games for Liverpool since 2018.

As a stopper, he has a record of 21 goals scored and 14 assists in them. As for team achievements – the Dutch back has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, English League Cup, UEFA Super Cup or Club World Cup with the Reds.
