Will the Oktagon lose Losene Keita? All the organizations are trying to outbid him. The question is whether it is financially bearable for us, says Ondrej Novotny
When Octagon signed him, apparently no one in the organization’s leadership expected what a gem he would turn out to be. Now he’s getting interest all over the combat sports world. Losene Keita is an absolute phenomenon. He has become a favourite of the Czechoslovakian public. But how long can the Octagon keep him?
When Oktagon signed him, apparently no one in the organization’s leadership expected what a gem he would turn out to be. Now he’s getting interest all over the combat sports world. Losene Keita is an absolute phenomenon. He has become a favourite of the Czechoslovakian public. But how long can the Oktagon keep him?
Keita is one of its biggest stars of the organization
He is the champion of the second weight category. First he dominated the lightweight division, now he dominates the featherweight division. If it wasn’t for an injury in his duel with Mat Sanikidz, he might still be undefeated. Losene Keita is already a phenomenon at 26 years old.
He last showed his great qualities in Ostrava in December. That’s when he stopped Niko Samsonidse hard. The German, however, was able to put a lot of pressure on him until the knockout. Now he can make some solid money. Oktagon will host the second edition of the Tipsport Gamechanger project. Now at lightweight.
We already know that big names are taking part. Will Keita be among them? Fans are asking more and more, but it’s not clear. It could be a challenge for him both athletically and financially. After all, the winner of the pyramid will get 300,000 euros.
The featherweight king has been arguing with lightweight champion Ronny Paradeiser for a while, but the right question is not whether he will be in Tipsport Gamechanger, but whether he will continue to be a fighter in the Oktagon MMA organization at all.
Keita has praised his involvement with the organization. He has praised Oktagon publicly on several occasions. He assured that he’s in no rush to get anywhere. But his quality is already seen overseas.
Will the Oktagon lose him?
26 years old, 12-1 record, 8 wins by KO/TKO, only loss due to injury, interesting personality, interesting story. Losene Keita? In short, an attractive commodity for any organization in the world. And so he’s understandably in high demand.
“We should have clarity on his participation in the Tipsport Gamechager by the end of the week,” promoter and owner of Oktagon Ondrej Novotny said in his podcast.
“The thing is, he’s the most wanted fighter. All of our competition is trying to outbox him. Whether it’s ONE FC, KSW, PFL or UFC. Frankly, it’s not an easy fight. The question is whether the fight is financially bearable for us,” added the head of the Czechoslovakian organization.
Novotny is clear on one thing, however. He says the Oktagon doesn’t have to worry about the attractiveness of Tipsport Gamechanger. “The tournament is already incredible. With or without Keita,” he is clear.
