Will he be the new star of the Oktagon? Engizek has a big debut ahead of him: I’ll enforce my gameplan and go for the finish
On Saturday, the OKTAGON 46 tournament in Frankfurt will present an interesting new acquisition. Kerim Engizek could be a new power horse in the middleweight division. But does he have any strong words? No. It is already clear from his answers during the interview that he intends to prove his qualities in the cage, not outside it.
Kerim Engizek is a new face in the Octagon, but his record commands respect. He now has 11 wins in a row, boasts an 18-4 record, and is in top form at the age of 32.
“I feel good and I’m happy to fight in Frankfurt on Saturday. I had other offers, then when I got the offer from the Oktagon I only thought about it for one day. I’m happy to be back in the cage on Saturday,” the Düsseldorf native told Ruik.
The former champion of the German GMC and EMC organizations has, of course, only the highest ambitions in the Oktagon as well, but his primary focus is on the present and therefore on the fight ahead of him.
In the past he has attended two galas of the organization in Germany. Last year he visited the event in Frankfurt, this year he headed to Oberhausen. He enjoyed both tournaments in every aspect and now he will get a taste of them as a wrestler.
On Saturday, Matias Juarez is scheduled to welcome him to the Oktagon. “I will give everything to the fight, I always try my opponent and this time it will be no different. I will enforce my gameplan and go for the finish,” Engizek is clear.
Finding his opponent was not easy. First he was supposed to face Zdeněk Polívka, then Dan Vinni, but both of them got injured. Could that be a problem? “The opponent will be different, but the goal remains the same. Juarez will go into the fight with everything he has to lose,” he says.
Engizek is coming into action after a year off. He doesn’t see a problem. He says his streak of 11 straight wins hasn’t put any pressure on him. He’s positive about the middleweight division, saying there are good fighters in it. He hasn’t ruled out a move to welterweight, where he was used to fighting in Germany.
