The Pirate fights for another title opportunity in Frankfurt
Samuel Krištofič has won a huge fan following at the Oktagon Challenge. The Slovakian wrestler won the first episode of the aforementioned reality show and dazzled on his next journey in the organization. At the end of February this year, he even had a chance to win the middleweight title.
In the way of his coveted dream stood the current champion Patrik Kincl, who this time was beyond his strength. For four rounds he pulled the short end of the stick and could not resist the precise ground work of his Czech opponent.
But in the fifth round Kincl ran out of breath and it was the Pirate who tormented his rival. However, the scoring judges unanimously pointed to the Czech fighter. The latter defends his belt at the end of the year against Karlos Vemola, with whom Krištofič often had a trashtalk and came close to fighting each other.
Who does he favour in the Kincl vs. Vémola fight and why?
How does the Slovakian fighter see the battle between his rivals at the end of the year? “If I have to say who should win, I would say Vémola,” surprised the Pirate in an interview on the Oktagon YouTube channel. “In terms of fighter skills, Patrik Kincl has a lot of chances to beat Vemola, but the fight is also about the head, how he can deal with the pressure,” confirming the evenness of the match.
“Karlos is able to apply pressure in a completely different way than a fighter used to against other opponents and that’s where I think Kincl has a gap,” he leans more towards Vemola’s side. “Kincl just has a problem in his head,” he said of the champion.
“Actually, I’m already thinking in advance that if I manage to beat Zdenek (Zdenek Polivka, Pirate’s opponent at Oktagon 36 in Frankfurt) and I have the opportunity to go for the title, I would like to fight Karlos,” he said.
“Because we had some verbal conflicts, a lot of people want to see the fight,” he described his relationship with Vémola. “Karlos is definitely one of the most exceptional wrestlers on the scene, let’s not kid ourselves,” he explained his attitude.
“I think that motivationally I would be most suited to such a fight,” he believes in his abilities. “The opportunity to beat Karlos Vemola on our stage is just great,” he added.
