English football’s top competition traditionally announces the best player of the past month. The winner is decided by a panel of expert judges and the captains of the Premier League clubs, as well as by the fans themselves via an online vote. The most successful footballer in the poll is Argentine midfielder Sergio Agüero, who has been named player of the month seven times. Which footballers have earned their nomination for November?

Liverpool’s outside back Trent Alexander-Arnold is, of course, among the nominees. November has been truly beyond successful for Trent, recording four league assists and even one goal, a respectable feat from a defender’s position. November was also good for Liverpool in terms of results, with the only black spot being the loss at West Ham.

Another nominee is also a full-back, but this time from rival Manchester City. Portuguese defender Joao Cancelo recorded two league assists last month and, like Arnold, played all he could for his club in the league. His excellent goal pass against Everton is certainly worth mentioning.

Watford’s Nigerian striker Emmanuel Dennis deserved his nomination completely. Dennis also had a very successful November, scoring two goals and two assists. For example, he had a very good game against Manchester United, whose 1:4 defeat he deserves a lot of credit for.

Another candidate to win the poll is the other Liverpool representative, this time Portuguese striker Diogo Jota. Jota scored three goals for the Reds last month, two against Southampton, one against Arsenal.

With the arrival of Steven Gerrard, Aston Villa’s entire squad has picked up and so their key player, midfielder John McGinn, cannot be missing from the nomination. The Scottish midfielder scored one goal in November and was present in two important wins at home against Brighton and away at Crystal Palace.

The last nominee is another Manchester City player and another Portuguese of this selection. Bernardo Silva caught great form at the end of October, which has lasted virtually until now. He flashed two goals during November, the first in the derby against United, the second against Everton. In the absence of other mainstays, he is currently City’s key player.
