What if Vémola loses? It wouldn’t be an extreme fall or some kind of shame, Novotný outlined
Karlos Vémola has another title fight ahead of him, this time he will try to overcome Serbian Aleksandar Ilic. According to the odds, he is a big favourite in the match, but anything can happen. What will happen if the Terminator falls?
Karlos Vémola has another title fight ahead of him, this time he will try to overcome Serbian Aleksandar Ilic. According to the odds, he is a big favourite in the match, but anything can happen. What will happen if the Terminator falls?
According to the bookmakers, Karlos Vémola is a huge favourite against Aleksandar Ilic. Of course, the reason is not the quality of both fighters, but the betting trends of Czech bettors.
They regularly trust Vémola and the odds are falling to their minimum. It is currently around 1.1, which definitely does not correspond to how the fight should look like.
The Czech Terminator could easily fall! What would happen in such a case? That’s what promoter Ondřej Novotný outlined in an interview for iSport.
“For Oktagon, it would mean that it has a very interesting champion in the thirty-ninety, who has undoubtedly wiped out the eyes of many. But not us, because we simply count on the fact that he can win the fight.
And if he can win it, of course we have to count on him being our champion and going on to other fights or wanting to get two belts as well. Which he might well do, because he’s certainly capable of still being in the octagon.
And for Carlos, it would mean he would have to shake off a defeat that he would no doubt take very hard. But it wouldn’t be an extreme fall or a disgrace. Not at all. Ilic is really dangerous, he fought the absolute best. So Karlos would have to pick himself up and move on.”
Vemola’s ego would definitely suffer, but nothing would likely change on his path. He’d like to fight for the middleweight title at the end of the year and should already be facing Attila Vegh next year.
