What after the loss to Vemola? Ilic could face the former champion, Novotný is convinced of his qualities

Aleksandar Ilic has made his debut in the Octagon. In the title match at Štvanica he was not given a single chance by Karlos Vémola, who managed to handle such a heated match perfectly. But what will happen to the Serbian fighter? Promoter Ondřej Novotný spoke about his future.

Ilic didn’t fulfill his promises, Vémola destroyed him

Until the fight with Karlos Vemola, almost nobody knew him in our country, but Aleksandar Ilic had several fights in KSW in Poland. But it can’t be said that he was a very well ranked fighter.

But he was able to promote himself very well. He made Vemola unbelievably mad with his trash talk, even managed to “silence” him when Terminator didn’t comment on his statements for days. It’s not the usual thing to do.

Still, the favourite was clear. And in the match, the different qualities of the two fighters were confirmed. Ilitch knocked him out in the first round. Once Vemola got him to the ground, there wasn’t much to deal with. In less than four minutes, the Terminator had made a more than noticeable mark on the Joker’s face.

The Joker will still show up at the Octagon

While Ilic was no match for Vemola, he wasn’t the first, nor the last. After all, there are not many fighters of his quality on our scene. Moreover, it was also a duel of two styles, because the Serbian is excellent in stance, so he could not show his strengths against Vemola.

But he will get his chance. “The Joker is still here. He won’t be an easy piece for anyone. I’m curious how the next opponent will handle him. I’m curious to see who will challenge him at what weight and who will be the first to take him on,” promoter Ondrej Novotny let slip on his MMA Flight Around the World podcast.

Novotny was asked by fans if a fight between Ilic and Pirate could happen. The reaction? They said it would be interesting. There’s a catch, though. Samuel Kristofich is currently not under contract and has offers from Bellator in the US, but they want him to fight at welterweight.

Krištofič has fought in the Octagon at welterweight and middleweight. He was even the middleweight champion before being beaten by Patrik Kincl in his defence.
